WHICH JESUS DO YOU SERVE??

There seems to be more than one Jesus to choose from these days.
Which one is the true Jesus and who am I following?

There’s a ‘seeker friendly’ Jesus, he’s the one who will not offend anyone in anyway. He loves everyone no mater what they do.

There’s a ‘sow and reap’ Jesus, he made a covenant with man
so that man could sow his seed and reap wealth and happiness on earth and then go to heaven when he dies.

There’s a ‘blend in with the world’ Jesus, he wants us to look
like, act like, and be like the world in order to reach the lost.

There’s a ‘never ending grace’ Jesus, his ‘grace’ covers us no
matter what we do or how we live.

There’s a ‘just believe’ Jesus. As long as you truly believe
in your heart, you’re saved.

There’s a ‘name it claim it’ Jesus. You name it; anything and
it’s yours! If you don’t get it, it’s because you lack faith. It’s your fault.

There’s a ‘carnal’ Jesus. He doesn’t expect you to overcome
sin, he understands you’re just carnal.
There’s a ‘heart dwelling’ Jesus. All you have to do is ask him into your heart and voilà, he’s there. You’re going to heaven!

Truth:

There’s the Jesus who said “Repent and believe the gospel,
the kingdom of God is at hand.” -Mark 1:15
He said, “Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him.” -Luke 9:23-25
He said without Him you are already condemned. -John 3:18

He said He came to save the world -John 3:16
He said unless you forsake all you have, you cannot be His disciple.
Luke 14:33
He said if we love anyone more than Him we are not worthy of Him.
Matt 10:37-39
He said if you love this life you’ll lose it. -John 12:25-26
He said you cannot serve God and money. -Matt 6:24
He said fear God who can destroy both body and soul in hell. -Mt 10:28
He said be extreme in your war against sin. -Matt 18:8-9
He said love God with all your heart, soul and mind and your neighbor as yourself. -Matt 22:37-39
He said He is the light of the world. –John 8:12
He said the gate is narrow and the way is difficult and few find it.
Matt 7:13-14
He said those who believe in Him but work iniquity will be cast out. -Matt 7:21-23
He said you’ll be hated for His name’s sake, but if you endure to the end, you’ll be saved. Matt 10:22
He said I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me. –John 14:6

Sold Out Disciple

"For the past several months the leadership of the Portland Church has taught the congregation to have deep convictions that to be baptized one must be a "sold out" disciple, to place membership one must be a "sold out" disciple and to be restored one must be a "sold out" disciple. A "sold out" disciple walks with God with all his heart, soul, mind and strength. (Matthew 22:37-40) A "sold out" disciple loves his neighbor as himself. A "sold out" disciple's mission is to be "a fisher of men." (Mark 1:14-18) A "sold out" disciple is willing to go anywhere, do anything, and give up everything for Jesus! (Luke 14:33)" Kip Mckean

"Question 1, are you sold out to God? Are you willing to do anything, go anywhere, give up everything? You said that at baptism, don't back off. If you're not there, tonight is the time to repent. And when you repent, you're going to tell other people that you repented. You say well I'm going to go on to my home congregation and I tell them that I was in Portland and I was called to be totally sold out, I mean bro you don't even know what awaits me. Oh you'd be surprised, I have a good hunch what awaits you. I call upon everybody that is not sold out tonight to rededicate your life tonight to Jesus Christ.

Secondly, I call everybody to a decision tonight to rededicate yourself to discipling. I've asked several people, how is discipling coming, they say well I think we have discipling. Well, I say, who is discipling you? Well, I don't know. Now let's see, if we would have asked Peter, Hey Peter do you know who is discipling you? Maybe Timothy, Timothy, do you have any idea who is discipling you these days? I mean, you know, he discipled you when you were 18 and everything when you first started out, and we had that little thing we had to get right with you. But is he still discipling you at 35? What? He's writing you from prison? That sounds like a lot of control. You're telling me the dude is in prison and he's telling you what to do? And he's 35! Get out of here! Don't you think you to just simply have just a friendship? I mean, you're mature. What do you need people in your life for?

I do believe when we start out we need to have a teacher/student relationship. We desperately need that, or we will fall away. I think as we mature things do go to more of an adult/adult relationship. But don't kid yourself, you still need discipling because your time of life is still unique to you. ....myself, hey I'm around 50, and I've never been in an empty next type situation. I need advice! I need discipling! Everybody has never been where you're at before and we need other people in our lives because can't be objective about ourselves.

Believer VS Disciples

Believers still want to have Jesus and still do their own self centered thing, with out being obedient to what Jesus tells them to do. Disciples is who are sold out to Jesus Christ turning their will over to Him. When we got born again we just which the one who we are to serve. Jesus only spoke to His disciples the intimate things that they where to know to carry out His will which was the Fathers will. We just need to be obedient to what Jesus is telling us to do not be rebellious to Him.
